Occasional festive parades on the street
🎙️ Collective documentation
The participants in the collective documentation initially had difficulties locating the photograph geographically. After thinking it over and with some doubts, the participants agree that the image could be located on Felipe II street with Sant Tarsici street. The possible landmarks are on the left sidewalk: the tall block that can be seen, where Mr. Ramiro's grocery store was, the garage, which still exists, and the Borbón garages, which faced Felipe II and are now the Carmen Laforet square. Next, the participants reflect on the stalls on the right sidewalk: they were probably something very temporary, part of some fair. One participant doubts that it is part of a market: "I think that it cannot be a market because there are many men around. If there are many men, it is more of a fair than a market."
During the documentation, memories and anecdotes flow. The participants describe life in the neighborhood in a very traditional way: "The football field was full of boys while the women cooked at home...". They agree on the changes in the neighborhood's life. The Borbón garages, the football field, the first traffic lights, and how they contributed to the safety of children traveling to school were topics that the image evoked.
They showed many emotions related to the reconstruction of historical memory. One of our participants' comments stands out about how Felipe II street has changed: "At the level of Jordi de Sant Jordi, it was not paved until the militar attack of 1981. I, that night, went up that street scared to death, and I still remember, the fear of going up... And my mother often said to me: 'Are you passing through the vacant lot? The vacant lot was Felipe II".
