DWeb Node: We Learn Decentralized Protocols with Ahau
Today, we know that a few big players dominate much of the online world, but the Internet is healthier when many people control it. This is what is intended with the decentralization of the web. DWeb meetings are a space to meet and connect people, protocols and projects in favor of a decentralized web. In addition, we collectively built the decentralized, experimental and free software-based network of the Canòdrom.
On the Internet we use today, communications often rely on central servers to store and distribute information. If we want to have a network with fewer central controls, we have to encourage direct communication between peers, from one user to the other. This is what protocols like SSB (Secure Scuttlebutt) do. In this meeting, we will see how these services work and we will talk with the developers of Ahau, an application made by the indigenous peoples of New Zealand that uses SSB.
This is the first of the DWeb meetings of the winter quarter 2024.
Organized by: Digicòria, collaborating project.
