Celebreation of the International Day of the Educating City

On November 30th, the International Day of the Educating City is celebrated, and this year Barcelona places the voice of children at the center. Under the motto Children’s Participation in the Educating City, AICE, the Barcelona City Council, and the Steering Group of the Children’s Council of Barcelona organize this open event to collectively reflect on children’s right to actively participate in public life.

Program:

Presented by Cath Larkins, international expert in child participation and co-director of the Centre for Children and Young People’s Participation at the University of Central Lancashire (UK). She will share experiences and ideas on how local governments can genuinely and effectively incorporate children’s voices into public policies.

  • 5:30 PM – Open event with children and adolescents from the Children’s Council of Barcelona:
Reading of the Manifesto for Child Participation
Open dialogue with Cath Larkins and political representatives from the City Council
Proposals and reflections on how they want the future Children’s Council to be: functioning, topics to address, and decision-making mechanisms.
